Artist statement:
Although I completed Master course in Architecture, I have never been interested in depicting cities or buildings in my art. I focus on a woman – as a central point of all my compositions, as the main theme of most of my paintings. Figures of women are sometimes unnaturally slim, unbelievebly perfect, almost unnatural. I often create very „graphic”, poster-like paintings, nearly not using any chiaroscuro. The colors are very vivid, pure, mainly from the palette of red, blue and black.
My paintings are inspired by works of Klimt, Modigliani and Lempicka, as well as by the fashion photography, icons of world design and black & white cinema. I’m fascinated with the Mediterranean climat and culture, the light and tones of the sea and eternal beauty of human figure.
Another series of my paintings are the minimalistic landscapes - parts of buildings in a close-up; horizontal, very simple landscapes and rocks, which I find especially fascinating.
